One of my favourite things to do in London is to regularly attend live gigs. Whether its high-profile acts that I’ve wanted to see for a lifetime, or discovering small, unknown bands.
At the same time as discovering new bands, the beauty of gig nights in London is that you also discover new venues. There’s certain venues that are amazing to visit time and time again, like the Roundhouse in Kentish Town is one of my personal favourites. But there’s also a great feeling about finding new, quirky venues across the capital.
One of the most recent gigs I attended in London was in November last year and it was to see Icelandic band Kaleo. They’re a four-piece blues & rock band who have created an eclectic indie sound in the music industry. Front man JJ Julius Son gives an energetic performance both vocally and playing the guitar. During one of their gigs you’ll be sitting reflecting one minute and jumping up and down dancing the next. One of my favourite tracks is ‘All the Pretty Girls’.
Definitely one to watch and I can’t wait for their new album to be released.
